I actually read @Adam Mastroianni's substack on the decline of deviance and my reaction was "that's too bad." Humor, playfulness, and creativity as all human gifts and I'd argue elements that make life delightful. I'm encouraged to do more purposeful naughtiness.

Oh wow, Judy, purposeful naughtiness is such an amazing phrase!

Or intentional mischief 😉

I like how this is such a human thing. My cats create no end of mischief but their intentions aren't to "give the system the finger." It because "there's leftover salmon on the table and it smells yummy, I going to eat some."

Fabulous essay Harrison. "If deviance is declining, it means the capacity to colour outside the lines is becoming rarer and therefore more powerful!"

This is such a fun piece, and funny...I laughed several times! I particularly love that last picture - the child blithely colouring on his dad's sleeping face 😁

One thing occurred to me towards the close - perhaps the increasing number of older people is influencing the decline in 'colouring outside the lines'... 😞

Thanks mum. That’s actually a really good point! An aging population could be skewing the data
