Expertise without a story is invisible
In the past, just being an expert was enough. Knowing your field inside-out opened doors and created opportunities. Now, AI can generate expert-level content on any technical subject in seconds. The real differentiator is your personal stories and unique perspective.
As the writer Maya Angelou said, “At the end of the day people won't remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel.” You don't need to be a viral sensation—you need to tell your stories in a way that connects with the right people in the right way.
But there's a catch: turning expertise into compelling stories is rare. As AI makes basic writing easier, many professionals will produce decent surface-level content, but few will develop the real skill. The professional world is splitting in two: those who can share their expertise through stories that resonate, and those who can't.
Winners and losers
You see it already—professionals who tell great stories are building personal brands, gaining influence, and even reshaping their industries. These are people who balance deep expertise with human connection.
But for those who don't build this skill, the future isn't so bright. Their knowledge—no matter how valuable—remains trapped, unable to reach the people who need it most. Their writing sounds formal and forgettable, nothing like their engaging in-person selves.
In a world where expertise and storytelling are becoming inseparable, failing to connect these dots means watching younger colleagues with less experience but better communication skills zoom past you. This isn't just about writing well—it's about ensuring your hard-earned knowledge makes the impact it deserves.
What writing well feels like
When you've truly learned to turn your expertise into stories that connect, you experience both immediate satisfaction and long-term rewards:
✅ You know how to identify which personal experiences are worth sharing, so you can build a unique profile that differentiates you from others in your field.
✅ You can balance professional credibility with authentic voice, so you can show your personality without risking your reputation.
✅ You can write in a way that sounds like you at your best, so you can finally have writing that matches how engaging you are in person.
✅ You know how to structure your ideas so people actually care about them, so you can create new career opportunities through your writing rather than watching them go to others.
✅ You build a consistent creative process, so you can reliably produce meaningful work without it feeling like a struggle.
As people give AI-written content an increasingly wide berth, your genuine voice becomes your competitive advantage, so you can create any opportunities you want and leave a lasting legacy.

"Think of a sounding board, but better - like an intellectual creativity board. That’s one of the many talents Harrison offers in the writing world: he stimulates, nurtures, and empowers the creative inside of you. From high level brainstorming to practical tips on language and structure, his guidance would be a huge advantage to anyone looking to take their writing to the next level."
Michael Skinner, Entrepreneur

"It's been a pleasure having Harrison in our Editor Program for Write of Passage. He absolutely aced the editor "exam" during our training (60/60), and has helped two cohorts of students around a range of technical and psychological blocks. His experience in art school enables him to give a perspective shift to anyone he works with."
Michael Dean, Writer and OG Editor-in-Chief at Write of Passage

"Harrison is so much more than simply an "accountability" coach. He is a nimble, high-idea-generating, creative troubleshooter. He can weave effortlessly back and forth between strategy and tactics (and then zoom out, and operate at a level even more meta than that)! He loves the craft of writing and that enthusiasm comes through in every interaction."
Jennifer Scott, Poet & writer

"Harrison is a discerning, collaborative, and attentive creative partner. He’s helped me out with my writing for over a year now and I just know that whatever piece I’m working on will be a few notches better once it’s got a ‘Harrison pass’. He’s also incredibly resourceful, being able to pull in a variety of prompts and references from his ever-growing library."

"The value of your coaching comes from those moments that are difficult to replicate alone. It could be that writing 'reps' are almost as effective alone as they are with a coach. But those 'aha' moments that happen during conversation are unique. Just bouncing ideas gave me access to a part of my brain that is usually difficult to access alone."
Justin Nothling, Entrepreneur

"When you call out things I didn't notice and when you put on your mentoring hat, I honestly feel like you have a lot of great ideas, Harrison, and you really have a good understanding of the craft because of your experience."
Linart Seprioto, Marketing Management Trainee

“Harrison, I wanted to let you know I was able to get out of the house and find a coffee shop to write for over an hour tonight. I completed a SFD [shitty first draft]. I really appreciate it!”
Kevin Doffing, Company President

"I went from a mess of ideas to writing pieces that connected with people. Harrison has a skill and approach to bring out the best in your writing. I've seen this improve in my writing and how I work with teams."
Dominik Gmeiner, Senior Design Leader

"Harrison helped me overcome a creative block while I was rewriting a few essays. His questions—always rich and unexpected—pushed me to think and feel differently. He's the kind of person who opens your eyes to things you didn’t realize were missing. He especially brings such positive energy to writing. It’s contagious. Suddenly, something that felt like a grind becomes playful and, dare I say, fun. Perhaps that’s the most valuable thing Harrison has given me: the joy of writing again."
Hugo Lebarrois, Product Manager

“When I began working with Harrison as a mentee, I felt overwhelmed, lost, and uncertain about my creative path. I was working on an application for my first artist's residency, submitting an ambitious project that I struggled to communicate clearly to my audience. Harrison went above and beyond every step of the way. His mentorship helped me not only clarify the core concepts behind my project but also find confidence in my own voice and perspectives. Through his guidance, I learned new ways to approach my writing process—from initial ideas to execution—helping me feel more organized and focused. Harrison continuously showed up for me as a mentor, and beyond practical advice, I have felt genuine companionship in our work together, navigating the joys and frustrations of writing.”

More about me
I’m a nonfiction nerd and creativity obsessive.
After winning an O'Shaughnessy Scholarship and completing the Write of Passage program, I landed roles as Editor, Workshop Leader, and Writing Mentor. I worked 1:2:1 with students and prospects, helping them to raise their awareness and take ownership of their practice. Students often credited my intuitive questioning and deep craft knowledge with their decision to enrol. I achieved a 46% conversion rate in student sign ups using this approach.
Before joining Write of Passage, I built a $2,000,000 tech company (think Slack for large construction sites), where I raised funding from Europe’s leading tech-for-good VCs, hired teams, and managed product development.
I’m an artist at heart, with a BFA and MFA from Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art in London. My superpower is building communities around creative and entrepreneurial projects. I’m particularly passionate about 1:2:1 and cohort-based learning.
